History
Our story begins in Florence. The origins of Molteni Farmaceutici date back to 1892. In this year, the company’s now-historic headquarters was established, complete with a pharmacy in the center of Florence. Here, Alfredo Alitti, a young chemist from the Marche region, created a laboratory. Later, together with his brother Aurelio, he began manufacturing medicines.
At the turn of the 1900s, Molteni had already become a significant pharmaceutical company producing medicines according to its own patented procedures. The products created at that time were intended for parenteral administration.
Today, the Italian Molteni facilities cover an area of 10,000 square meters on the outskirts of Florence. This site is home to the company’s headquarters, Research and Development Department, and the department responsible for Italian and international marketing, along with numerous research laboratories.
